Based on spiritual and educational principles, the course provides practical methods and procedures to lead children to Christ and immediately begin a ministry where they live.

Ongoing, practical training for those who are involved in teaching Good News Clubs. Local directors meet on a regular basis with Good News Club teachers for inspiration and encouragement along with curriculum helps.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS WORKSHOPS

These special training sessions are geared to meet the needs and situations of children's Sunday school teachers. Subjects taught may be selected from a broad range of topics. These workshops may be arranged for your church as a series of meetings over a period of weeks or an all-day Saturday class.

Evangelism and Discipleship Programs

GOOD NEWS CLUBS®

Weekly neighborhood children's clubs, teaching Bible and missions throughout the school year. A wonderful opportunity to lead children to Christ and help them grow spiritually. Training and materials are available.

5 - DAY CLUBS®

Summer clubs for children, teaching the Gospel message in backyards and other outdoor settings. Simple but attractive one-hour programs for five days. Clubs are conducted through the local church. Training is available, or trained summer missionaries can teach the clubs.

HOLIDAY CLUBS

Holidays provide a great opportunity for a one-time club. An evangelistic club kit is designed for the particular holiday season. Training for such a ministry is available in your local area.

FAIRS & MALL MINISTRY

Mobile units such as the Chapel on Wheels, Good News Gables, and the Good News Caboose can be seen at fairs across Maine. A simple Gospel message through videos, movies, or stories is given at 30 minute intervals. Trained staff counsel children who respond to the Gospel invitation.

CAMP GOOD NEWS® & DAY CAMPS

CEF operates a full summer program of camping at East Livermore. Circle L graciously gave us this campground in 1991. A volunteer staff from all over Maine assists the CEF State Office Staff to make a spiritually profitable, exciting, and safe week of camp for children. Junior camps are for ages 8-12, with one week of Sports camp for ages 10-13. Day Camps are conducted throughout the state.

The State Team

John Romano State Dir.Hi, I'm John Romano, the State Director of Maine. My wife, Ronna (Carder), and I were married on September 15, 1972 .

We have three children in all:

Rachelle, born August 27,1973

Anthony, born November 15, 1975

and Robert Richards, who has been part of our family for seven years.

I graduated in December 1986 from Child Evangelism Fellowship Leadership Training Institute.

I was the Pastor of Washington Street Baptist Church in Eastport, Maine from July 1977 to June 1986.
Beginning in June 1986, I became the State Director with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Maine, Inc.

I was saved in November of 1973 while stationed at Otis Air Force Base in Massachusetts. I was 22 years old at the time, and believe this to be the most significant event in my life. I received Christ in the privacy of our living room after reading a simple Gospel invitation from the book of Romans; the invitation closed with Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

My parents were saved when I was in high school; therefore, I had heard the Gospel many times, but had chosen to live in rebellion. I believe today that God used the faithfulness, love and prayers of my parents to bring me to Himself. That day in Massachusetts, I believed that I was a sinner, that the wages of sin were death, but that Christ had died for me. I asked the Lord Jesus to forgive me on the basis of His death in my place. I got up from my knees forgiven and a part of the family of God.

Our first child, Rachelle, was born in August 1973, shortly before I was saved, and our second child, Anthony, came along in November 1975. Our own children were instrumental in impressing upon us the importance of a ministry to children. I did not want my children to share my testimony of rebellion, but rather the testimony of Timothy, " Who from a child knew the Scriptures which were able to make him wise unto salvation."

Being a part of Child Evangelism Fellowship Inc. gives many opportunities to reach children with the Gospel of Christ.

I would like to introduce you to our State Coordinators.

Melanie and Vernelle work together as State Ministry Coordinators. They are involved in the planning of all state programs such as Camp Good News, Christian Youth In Action® Training School, etc. Curriculum for all the ministries is their responsibility. Doing training classes where needed and teaching a weekly Good News Club are also a part of their ministry.

Melanie MulherinMelanie Mulherin grew up in Litchfield, Maine. Her family was unsaved, but she came to know the Lord at age 19 through the witness of a friend. After working at a secular job for eight years, the Lord spoke to her heart about attending Glen Cove Bible College. Contacts with Edna Sawyer, the state director of CEF at that time, were used to bring her into the work full time in 1974. She attended the CEF Leadership Training Institute in 1978.

The first eight and one half years in CEF were spent in New Hampshire and the remaining time has been with CEF of Maine. Thank you for visiting our Web page and allowing us to become a part of your home.
